Far from massive games with realistic graphics and gigantic production values, standalone games are still a great way to have fun and spend time on games, and they continue to remind us of the sweet past, especially when they use beautiful 16-bit graphics and pixel style. Over the years, some development teams have become professionals in this field and are even pushing the industry in new, unfamiliar directions, such as the trend of auto-generation that has begun to reach mega games through projects such as Returnal. We are eagerly awaiting the release of many independent games, and although we cannot be sure of their release date, we hope that these games will see the light of day in the year 2022. Here are five games that we have selected from among the games of independent developers as promising titles that we eagerly await:
Hollow Knight Silksong
The first part of Hollow Knight was a perfect Metroidvania game for fans of the genre. Hollow Knight borrowed the intricate and intricate design from the Castlevania and Metroid games, and brought a map that was bigger than ever, in addition to integrating the gameplay with the challenging mechanics and level of Souls games. Ultimately, Hollow Knight is definitely one of the genre's masterpieces and one of the pinnacles of its production.
It's no surprise that Hollow Knight Silksong is one of our most awaited indie games, and it's the one focusing on Hornet this time around. to maintain, or even surpass, the exceptional quality of Hollow Knight in the first installment. Hollow Night Silksong is one of our most awaited games, and this is not only on the level of indie games, but compared to everyone else.
Sports Story
Golf Story was a huge success when it was first released on the Switch by Sidebar Games. The idea is very simple and combines sports games with RPG elements, similar to what some Mario sports games have done in the past, and it is a very clever and entertaining mixture because it gives depth and the value outside of sport, as well as the excitement that accompanies sports.
Sports Story comes with a larger and more ambitious idea than the first game to address several sports at the same time instead of specializing in one sport. As with Hollow Knight, this is a game that has taken a very long time to develop and we are waiting.
Freedom Planet 2
Being a fan of 2D Sonic games, it is not surprising that we are eagerly waiting for this game, the first part succeeded in adapting the classic Sonic mix by providing a fast-paced gameplay character and great music, and even went further to add attack and mobility capabilities that are more innovative and diverse than Sonic games Two-dimensionality, but some stages were not that good and did not work optimally.
The developers of the game promised to provide a more integrated experience in the second part that focuses on the points in which the first succeeded and enhances them while avoiding its shortcomings and the aspects it failed in a little, and we cannot wait. For those Sega blue hedgehog fans who haven't fulfilled their dream of getting Sonic Mini 2 yet, we think Freedom Planet 2 would be a lovely gift for them.
Salt and Sacrifice
Salt & Sanctuary is known for its ability to emulate the characters of the Souls series in 2D: a dark fantasy with a dark fantasy of the game's world and creatures, a mega-challenge, and excellent stages. Salt and Sacrifice promises more of this mix with the idea of catching witches by chasing them over the course of several screens, which we like very much.
The game looks promising, and we expect it to provide an experience that surpasses the first part. It is coming early next year as an exclusive for home PlayStation devices, in addition to the PC.
Sea of Stars
Sea of Stars is the new 16-bit first-person RPG from Sabotage Studios, the same developer that worked on the great 2D action game The Messenger. The studio decided to go with a different genre of games and we loved the boldness. Even Messenger It itself was offering two different gaming experiences.
Sabotage Studios looks magical, and our hearts have stuck with it since it was revealed. The game looks amazing, and the music is so magical. This game is a dream for fans of RPG games from the old days like Chrono Trigger, and it offers various gameplay activities such as cooking and fishing. The game also offers different tunes between night and day, similar to the Xenoblade series of games. Really, she looks amazing.
Well, these were our picks, so what about you? Share with us your wishlists for the upcoming indie games!
